Session 6: TEST Badge with Essay
You are able to achieve a microcredential—Inquiry in the STEM Classroom—which is a sharable, digital way to recognize your hard work and learning in this course! You will submit your work for consideration of a microcredential from this website. Your teacher will review your work—also called the evidence of your learning—and then award the microcredential through Credly, a website that allows you to manage and share your microcredential in a variety of ways in the years to come. While the microcredential is not a requirement of the course, students find them useful to showcase when applying for internships, jobs, and college.
Step 1: Create a Credly Account
- Go to the Credly website and create an account if you don’t already have one. Use the same email address that you use for this course.
- If you want to learn more about receiving and sharing microcredential , Credly has several videos available. You can learn how to share your microcredential in places such as your email signature or on social media sites.
Step 2: Submit Evidence of Learning
-
- Assemble the following content:
- Inquiry Process infographic (from Session 2). Create and share a simple infographic that shows a step-by-step process with at least four steps that teachers can use when designing inquiry-based lessons.
- Inquiry Meme (from Session 4). Create and share a meme about the importance of questioning and inquiry.
- Inquiry Story (from Session 6). Plan and try out an inquiry lesson activity with a group of learners, and then create an Inquiry Story using a technology tool of your choice about how it went which includes the following elements:
- 1 paragraph that summarized the lesson plan
- Photograph or scan of notes on the lesson
- 2–3 paragraphs that shared what happened when facilitating the activity, including:
- anything that went particularly well or surprises
- “a-has”
- what to do differently next time
- 2–3 images that showed learners engaged in the activity
- Images of student work (if applicable)
- 1 paragraph reflection about what was learned in the Inquiry Rocks STEM course including how inquiry supports STEM learning and what is exciting about supporting student inquiry in STEM.
- Upload your work:
- Work from your computer: If you created your Inquiry Story with a word processor, PowerPoint, or other package where you saved the file to your computer, you may either add everything to one document or zip all three files together (infographic, meme, and inquiry story) and attach the file using the Submission tool below. Note: The Submission tool below only allows for you to upload one document, so you must zip your files if you have multiple ones.
- Work from the cloud: If you created your Inquiry Story with a website such as Google Slides or Sutori and the story is in the cloud instead of saved to your computer, add your infographic and meme to your Inquiry Story and submit the hyperlink. To do this, add the hyperlink to your project in the Submission box below and then click Submit.
- When you have met the criteria for your microcredential, you will receive an email that an “Inquiry in the STEM Classroom” microcredential is available on Credly. You may then go to Credly to see your microcredential displayed and choose how to share it.
- Assemble the following content:
